No – I’m not that bad at spelling, neither did Kathy fail at proofreading.

The word “Christmas” is made up of two words.  The first is “Christ”, the second “mas” comes from the same word as “mass” which means, in this sense,  assembled together, the same sense that brought the word “mass” to be used for people assembled together in a church worship service, a mass.  So then, even though it has become a holiday name,

“Christmas” is assembling together to worship Christ. And who is assembling to worship Him?  Us.

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given;  and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,  Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace .  Isaiah 9:6

For unto “us”. The awesomeness of God,  in a gift wrapped in swaddling clothes,  given to us. That’s you and me.  Us.

Can you feel the weight of that?  The Child was born to you and I. The Son was given to you and I. The One with the government on His shoulder was a gift to you and I.  He is  your Wonderful Counselor.  He is  your  Mighty God. He is  your  Everlasting Father.  He is  your  Prince of Peace .

Yep, I know how to spell.  C – H – R – I – S – T – M – A – S .

More importantly. I know Christ came for you.  And for me.  For us.
