KEY IDEA: Do as You are Told – Ezekiel 12:1-8 (Key v7-8)

12 The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house. As for you, son of man, prepare for yourself an exile’s baggage, and go into exile by day in their sight. You shall go like an exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house. You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for exile, and you shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as those do who must go into exile. In their sight dig through the wall, and bring your baggage out through it. In their sight you shall lift the baggage upon your shoulder and carry it out at dusk. You shall cover your face that you may not see the land, for I have made you a sign for the house of Israel.”

And I did as I was commanded. I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage at dusk, carrying it on my shoulder in their sight.

In the morning the word of the LORD came to me:

THE WEEKDAY DAILY PATTERN

  • Establish your quiet place. – Find a time and place as free of distraction as possible
  • Minute 1: Ask God to speak to you through His Word; this is a literal prayer request. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16] Audibly ask Him to remove Satan from your presence. – Resist the Devil and He will flee from you” (James 4:7) “Lead us not into temptation…” (Matthew 6:13) Ask Him to remove distractions and mental clutter; during this time, do not ask Him for anything else. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2
  • Minute 2: Listen to Him through His Word. Read the Scripture, hear what God has said.
  • Minutes 3-5: Pray the words of Scripture, focusing on the Key Idea, and asking Him for clarity.
  • Minutes 6-15: Read and answer the questions and close with the Every Day Prayer, as follows:
  1. Pray for yourself…
    1. …for forgiveness, today
    2. …to hear God’s voice, today
    3. …to respond to His calling, today
    4. …to be free from sin, today
    5. ….?
  2. Pray for others: Thank God for their very existence. Ask for opportunities to share Him with specific unbelievers. Ask to have your love for them increase.
    1. For anyone in the room with you right now
    2. For family (2 or 3 specific people)
    3. For 2 or 3 other specific significant people in your life
