John 13
Philippians 2

God’s kingdom is different than earthly kingdoms
– greatest = youngest

Jesus showed humility prior to this by washing feet

1 – the problem

we are prone to making same mistakes as people of the bible

the first sin was triggered from pride

God opposes the proud

pride puts us in opposition to God

2 – the prevalence

if we are honest we see pride in the mirror
– we make ourselves the idol

the things i think i deserve
– we think we are more important others

3 – the prescription

counts others as more significant as yourselves

Christ didnt count equality w/ God something to be used to His own advantage

God gives us a mind like His when we accept Him as Saviour

Following Jesus is the solution to pride

24 A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
