evangelize for the glory of god

Evangelism should not be scary

as you go, make disciples

jesus sent followers to seek and save the lost
– he is with you thru the process to help you

myths
1 – christians are imposing beliefs on ppl. you cannot force ppl to be a christian. only god can change their heart.
2 – evangelism is goal oriented. its our job to be faithful in sharing the gospel. the holy spirit is in charge of results. we succeeded in sharing the gospel. we dont count success on conversion success numbers
3 – evangelism is church recruiting. inviting ppl to church isnt evangelism. getting ppl into church may just be a part of evangelizing – theres still a responsibility to disciple that person.
4 – a testimony is evangelism. its good to share, but need to include their need to repent.
5 – social / political action / apologetics is evangelism. none tell ppl the need to repent.

evangelism is
love – for god and ppl
telling ppl the gospel

all christians need to find ways to tell ppl what the gospel is

how we do evangelism
honesty
– what is required to become a christian
– what it means to be a christian
– about our shortcomings

urgency
– no frantic but urgent

prayer
– jesus did and still prayed for us
– we need to be ready to pray w/ ppl we are evangelizing to

joy
– we need to realize why we should enjoy evangelizing
