reflecting on someone important dying
– things he said and did

‘i thirst’
– from psalms 69:21
– human

‘it is finished’
– the work god gave him to do is finished
– taking gods wrath
– could have rescued himself, but followed Gods will
– ‘here i am send me’
– divine

‘father, into your hands i commit my spirit’
– sovereignty
– psalm 31:5
– contrast w/ ‘my god, my god’ – now showing intimacy
– Jesus gave up His spirit
– He gave up – He was in control

Jesus was truly human – tempted
Jesus is truly divine – the work He could only do. it takes God to save us
Jesus is sovereign – in control
