Olivet discourse v8-v36

20-24 – specifically what will happen to jerusalem
– Destruction of jerusalem
– Emporer Titus tears down temple but leaves wailing all
– Christians fled to mountains

The Lords vengance on jerusalem
– Used roman army to destroy temple
– Jesus mentions in chapter 19
– For israel rejecting jesus salvation

Israel continually persecuted throughout history

Promises fulfilled now and in the future
– Be humble b4 God now. All will be humble b4 God in the future
– Sin forgiven now. All sin nonexistant in the future

God will destroy those that reject him

Jesus’s ‘ohh jerusalem’ is a call to us to not reject Him

Israel created to help restore man to God
– Jesus the fulfillment of this

Saved by Grace thru faith
– In response we do good works
– Not christians in name only
– Have joy

Christ crucified
– There is no altar
– There is no temple
– We come to the Lords table

Bible Verses

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. 23 Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
