Cruelty in the life of Jesus

Couldnt have trial until morning

V63 – holding jesus in custody
He could have chosen to not be under custody
– So many powerful miracles
– He came down to be w/ us
– Fully human in order
– Galatians 4 – born under the law. human to fulfill law
– Hebrews – a body you prepared for me
– His own will
– Luke 18 – he told disciples details of His torture

Roman soldiers cruel to Jesus

How have we accepted so much cruelty in our modern lives
– Diminishes reality of cruelty in bible

Mocking
– OT references against mocking God

Beating

Blindfolded
– Light of world
– Gave sight to blind

Prophecy
– God gave them words and gifts

‘Who had struck you?’

Blasphemy
– Speak w/ contempt towards God
– Defined Him as God w/ blasphemy

How do these things in our lives?

Dont mock jesus

Dont Blaspheme
– Our words matter
– ‘Gods name in vain’ – using w/o a purpose

Sad news
– Soldiers missing jesus completing salvation
– Selfishly missing out on greatest moment in history

Bad news
– All have sinned

Other news
– A savior

He was born that night for this night
