Luke 1

Compare the night of His birth w/ the night of His death

Christians should always be getting ready
– Learning who jesus is
– Loving God and loving ppl

Who was getting for the first cmas?
– Mary n joseph
– Zechariah – prophesied at johns birth
– Future Pharisees / religious leaders that ‘convicted’ Jesus. Trained to look for jesus, but missed Him
– Ppl taking first census

Jewish legal system
– Based on Word of God / OT
– Justice n Truth
– Public, accused an defense, 3 witnesses of crime (9th commandement)
– Sanhedrein – meant to bring life / preserve truth
– 1 person couldnt self-incriminate

Jesus’ trial was done to try to show ppl they were keeping legal system, but they werent

Hardened hearts wont believe what He says

The Truth trial finally n fully presented to the religious leaders / trial. But accuse Him of lying.

Ppl knew true things about jesus but ignored
– Remind ourselves of the whole counsel of jesus

Made decision not to believe who Jesus is
– We need to decide what we believe about jesus
– Liar, lunatic, Lord

All the jesus said
– Even the things we dont like to do
– He changes our hearts n wants to do the good

Allowed core principles to be compromised
– Ppl distort scripture for own gain

Bible Verses

66 When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said, 67 “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.”
